Two $1 Million Powerball® Tickets Sold in West Virginia

Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced Thursday that two tickets that matched five numbers for Wednesday night’s Powerball® drawing were sold in West Virginia. Both tickets are worth $1 million.

One ticket was sold at the One Stop #3516 at 1413 U.S. Route 60 in Huntington, while the other ticket was sold at the Julian Mini Mart in Julian.

This marks the first time that two Powerball® tickets worth $1 million each were sold at separate locations for the same drawing in West Virginia.

Michael Shaver and Ronald Simmons, both from Weston, shared $14 million in winnings for matching five numbers with the Power Play® option seven times for the same drawing on March 5, 2012. However, all seven of those tickets were purchased at the same time and at the same location.

Terry Brumfield of Harts, who claimed his $1 million prize on Dec. 21, 2012, was the last West Virginia Powerball® match 5 winner.

It is strongly recommended that the ticket holders sign the back of their tickets immediately and contact the West Virginia Lottery at 304-558-0500.
