West Virginia Lottery and Scientific Games to Extend Video Lottery System Agreement

8/1/2013

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that a maintenance agreement has been reached between the West Virginia Lottery and Scientific Games International (SGI) that will allow the central computer system that controls all video lottery machines within the State of West Virginia to remain in operation through January 31, 2018.

“This agreement will maximize the lifespan of our system and ultimately save both the State and Limited Video Lottery operators and retailers from the very costly process of making a system change at an earlier date,” Musgrave said. "I want to thank Scientific Games International for working with us to make this extension possible.”

Scientific Games’ AEGIS system currently controls and regulates approximately 16,000 video lottery machines in West Virginia’s casinos and taverns. The system has been in place since 2006, and the current contract was set to expire in January of 2016.
