Powerball® Ticket Worth $1 Million Set to Expire

9/11/2013

CHARLESTON, W.Va.West Virginia Lottery Director John C. Musgrave announced today that a ticket from a Powerball® drawing worth $1 million was sold in Beckley last March and will expire tomorrow, should it go unclaimed.

The ticket, which matched five numbers and only missed the Powerball®, was purchased at the Little General Store #145 at 3604 Robert C. Byrd Drive in Beckley for the Saturday, March 16, 2013 Powerball® drawing.

The winning numbers for the Saturday, March 16, 2013 drawing were: 3-7-21-44-53 and the Powerball® number was 16.

West Virginia Lottery tickets expire 180 days from the draw date. Therefore, if the ticket is not claimed at West Virginia Lottery Headquarters in Charleston by 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, it will go unclaimed. All unclaimed lottery prizes are placed in the West Virginia Lottery’s unclaimed prize fund and returned to players in the form of prizes for games.

Retailers receive a 1% commission on winning tickets and should the ticket expire, the Little General Store will still receive its sales bonus of $10,000.

The individual or individuals in possession of the ticket are encouraged to call the West Virginia Lottery at 304-558-0500.

The current Powerball® jackpot for tonight’s drawing is an estimated $245 million.
