Mega Millions Jackpot Nearing Record High

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (March 23, 2018) – Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $421 million, making it the fifth largest jackpot amount in the game’s history.

Should someone match all six numbers for the March 23rd drawing, that person or persons would have a choice of taking the annuity (one immediate payment and annual graduated payments for 29 years or the Cash option of $205.3 million.

A total of 20 Mega Millions drawings have passed since the last Mega Millions jackpot win. The $451 million winning ticket in that drawing was sold in Florida for the Jan. 5, 2018 drawing.

Mega Millions drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Ga. West Virginia players have until 9:59 p.m. ET on draw days to purchase their tickets. Tickets cost $2 or $3 with the Megaplier option which multiplies the prize amount you can win on all prizes except the top prize.

Since 1986, the West Virginia Lottery has generated more than $9.5 billion in proceeds for the State of West Virginia. Lottery proceeds benefit Education, Seniors, and Tourism in the Mountain State.
