Mega Millions Jackpot Now Fourth-Largest Ever

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (March 26, 2018) – The Tuesday, March 27, 2018, Mega Millions jackpot is the fourth largest jackpot amount in the game’s history at an estimated $458 million.
Should someone match all six numbers for the drawing, that person or persons would have a choice of taking the annuity (one immediate payment and annual graduated payments for 29 years or the Cash option of $274 million.

A total of 21 Mega Millions drawings have passed since the last Mega Millions jackpot win. The $451 million winning ticket in that drawing was sold in Florida for the Jan. 5, 2018 drawing.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot of all-time was a $656 million prize from March 30, 2012 that was split with winning tickets in Kansas, Illinois and Maryland. The second-largest ever was a $648 jackpot from December 17, 2013 that was split with winners in California and Georgia. The third-largest to date was a $536 million jackpot that was won in Indiana on July 8, 2016.

Mega Millions drawings are conducted at 11 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesdays and Fridays in Atlanta, Ga. West Virginia players have until 9:59 p.m. ET on draw days to purchase their tickets. Tickets cost $2 or $3 with the Megaplier option which multiplies the prize amount you can win on all prizes except the top prize.
