Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $403 Million

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Powerball jackpot for the Wednesday, February 22, 2017 drawing is an estimated annuity amount of $403 million, making it the 10th largest Powerball jackpot in history.

Tickets cost $2 and can be purchased at any licensed West Virginia Lottery retailer up until 9:59 p.m. on draw dates.

West Virginia players have the added bonus of the on-going Power Cruise promotion. West Virginia players who purchase a Powerball ticket with the Power Play option ($3) will receive a coupon for online entry into the Power Cruise Collect 'N Win. A total of 24 West Virginia entries will be selected to win a luxury cruise on a special lottery-only cruise ship where they can win additional prize money.

“There has never been a better time to play Powerball,” said Randy Burnside, the West Virginia Lottery's Public Relations manager. “We have a huge jackpot and the added bonus of the Power Cruise Promotion that our players can take advantage of right now.”

Burnside says that players should consider asking for individual tickets with the Power Play to maximize the number of coupons they will receive.

“The Power Cruise promotion automatically generates a coupon for any Powerball ticket with Power Play. So, it is best for an individual to ask for their plays on separate tickets in order to get more coupons and thus more potential entries into the promotion,” Burnside said.

The Powerball drawing is set for 11 p.m. ET. Should no one match all six numbers, the jackpot will grow again for Saturday's draw.
