Sara Harpold Named Advertising Manager

Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Deputy Director of Marketing Tommy Young announced Friday that Sara Harpold has been hired as the West Virginia Lottery’s Advertising Manager. She replaces Mike Ross who is retiring from the position after 31 years of service.

“We are pleased to have Sara join our marketing staff. She has a great deal of experience and tremendous creativity that will make her a valuable asset to our team,” Young said.

Harpold comes to the West Virginia Lottery after serving as a graphic designer at the Mardi Gras Casino & Resort since 2003. Harpold was instrumental in the creation and development of the graphic design office at Mardi Gras where she was responsible for the creation of marketing materials for promotions, events and campaigns across all mediums for the resort. She worked closely with the Mardi Gras Marketing Department on advertising campaigns, promotions, ad copy, radio scripts and television commercial production and spots, and she coordinated with vendors on a wide-variety of projects from the production stage to completion.

“I am excited to have this opportunity, and the chance to make a difference, in the state I was born and raised in,” Harpold said. “I am looking forward to contributing to, and learning from, the marketing staff and being part of a team that helps generate revenue that is important to the education of our children, the well-being of our seniors, and other good things.”

Harpold, a South Charleston native, earned a B.A. in Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from Marshall University in 2002.
