St. Albans Woman Wins $50,000 Playing Bass Pro Shops® Outdoor Cash

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that Amber Slater of St. Albans has claimed a $50,000 prize from the West Virginia Lottery's $5 instant game Bass Pro Shops® Outdoor Cash.

“I can't believe it. I was just in shock,” Slater said. “I scratched off the ticket in my bedroom and was in total shock. I immediately took it to show my dad and told him to tell me that I am not halucinating. I think he went into shock too. I then called my sister and told her to get over here!”

Slater purchased the winning ticket at Go Mart #75 on Spruce Street in St. Albans.

Slater, who works in an area nursing home, has two children ages 13 and 8. She plans to use her winnings to put a down payment on a new home for her family.

“I do play the lottery from time to time, but the most I have ever won before this was about $150,” Slater said. “I am so excited. I still can't believe it.”
