POWERBALL TICKET WORTH $1 MILLION SOLD IN CHESTER
West Virginia also has five $50,000 Powerball winners and one Match 5 Hot Lotto Winner
from Wednesday Night
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A West Virginia Lottery player who purchased a Powerball ticket at Chaney’s Service Station in Chester matched five numbers and only missed the Powerball number from the Wednesday, January 13, drawing. That lucky ticket is worth $1 million.
In addition to the $1 million winner, five tickets worth $50,000 were also sold in West Virginia for the drawing by matching four numbers and the Powerball number. Those tickets were purchased at Par Mar #23 on Old East Grafton Rd. in Fairmont, the Speedway at Rt.33 and Scott Lane in Scott Depot, Sheetz #137 on Charles Town Rd in Kearneysville, Sheetz #458 on Courthouse Rd. in Princeton and the Loading Zone on Ridgecrest Rd. in Wheeling.
“We are happy to start the year off with a million dollar winner and so many $50,000 prize winners here in West Virginia,” Acting Lottery Director John Myers said. “We want to encourage everyone to sign the back of their tickets and make sure they check them closely.”
If you are the lucky $1 million ticket holder, the West Virginia Lottery recommends signing the back of the ticket immediately and keeping it in a secure place. You are also encouraged to call the West Virginia Lottery at 304-558-0500 for further instructions on claiming.
The Powerball numbers for Wednesday were 4, 8, 19, 27, 34 and the Powerball was 10. The Powerplay multiplier was 2x. Tickets that were sold in California, Tennessee and Florida matched all six numbers and those players will share the record $1.58 Billion jackpot.
All told, 128,874 Powerball tickets that were sold in West Virginia for the Wednesday drawing won a prize.
In addition to the Powerball winners, West Virginia also had a player match five numbers in the Multi-State Lottery Hot Lotto game last night. That ticket, which was sold at M & C Market in Rock, is worth $30,000.
