CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that Michael Wimmer of Bluefield has won $50,000 playing the Lottery’s $5 instant game Joker Mania.
Wimmer purchased the winning ticket at the Go Mart 67 on Big Laurel Highway in Princeton on his way to work. The Conn-Weld Industries worker then received a pleasant surprise.
“I bought the ticket on my way to work and I scratched it off in the parking lot once I got there,” WImmer said. “I couldn’t believe it. I took the ticket in to show my co-workers to make sure they saw what I thought I saw, but at first they could not read it because my hand was shaking so much. But, it was there.”
Wimmer said he plays Powerball® and instant games regularly, but this is the most he has ever won.
“I am going to use this to pay off all my debts,” Wimmer said.
